Welcome to Yesterday (2014)

Welcome to Yesterday.jpg A group of teens discover secret plans of a time machine, and construct one. However, things start to get out of control.
Director: Dean Israelite
Stars: Amy Landecker, Sofia Black-D'Elia, Ginny Gardner, Jonny Weston
The Buzz: The first Chronicle copycat also seems to have incorporated elements of The Butterfly Effect into its swiftly developed script. And, hey, it's an effective trailer -- especially since none of the story's core elements are new. We aren't sure, however, there's a new Dane Dehaan or Michael B. Jordan in this principal cast, though one of the guys looks like Miles Teller.

3 Days to Kill (2014)

3 Days to Kill poster.jpg A dying Secret Service Agent trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter is offered an experimental drug that could save his life in exchange for one last assignment.
Director: McG
Stars: Kevin Costner, Hailee Steinfeld, Connie Nielsen, Amber Heard
The Buzz: Liam Neeson's Taken's success obviously caused handfuls of similar projects to be put in development; kudos to Kevin Costner for already having his career back on track before taking on this one ... last ... assignment.

The Lego Movie (2014)

The Lego Movie poster.jpg An ordinary LEGO minifigure, mistakenly thought to be the extraordinary MasterBuilder, is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil LEGO tyrant from gluing the universe together.
Directors: Phil Lord | Christopher Miller
Stars: Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Morgan Freeman
The Buzz: Perhaps one lesson learned from Battleship (2012): audiences don't want classic board games turned into overly serious action-adventure tales. So we were relieved when Warner Bros. announced the project as an animated movie to be co-directed by the guys from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009).

Pompeii (2014)

Pompeii-poster.jpg A slave turned gladiator finds himself in a race against time to save his true love, who has been betrothed to a corrupt Roman Senator. As Mount Vesuvius erupts, he must fight to save his beloved as Pompeii crumbles around him.
Director: Paul W.S. Anderson
Stars: Kit Harington, Carrie-Anne Moss, Emily Browning, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
The Buzz: Populist filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson approaches every one of his projects with the same frantic enthusiasm, so he's an obvious pick to handle this historical action/adventure tale. But we wonder if the romance angle might keep some of the Resident Evil at bay. His swooshy take on The Three Musketeers was spared complete embarrassment only by its performance overseas. And why do we feel like this won't be the only time we see Kit Harrington and Emily Browning paired up?

Plot

1st Review

Continuing with the franchise, The Expendables 3 is about the Expendables needing to save the President of the United States. While on their mission, they clash with several younger, technology oriented action heroes.
In The Expendables 3, Barney (Sylvester Stallone), Christmas (Jason Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables -- but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.
